FFL Shipping & Transfer Policy

Atlas Gun Services LLC is a federally licensed firearms dealer (Type 07 FFL / Class 2 SOT) at 13380 Telge Rd Ste 805, Cypress, TX 77429. This page explains how firearms bought from our online store get to you. It is a summary of how we handle orders. It is not legal advice.

Firearms ship only to a licensed dealer (FFL)

  • We do not ship firearms to a home or business address. Every firearm ordered online ships to a federally licensed dealer.
  • At checkout you choose the receiving FFL:
    • Atlas Gun Services (Cypress, TX). Pick it up at our shop on Telge Rd.
    • Another FFL. Choose a dealer near you. That dealer must send us a copy of its license before we ship, and it may charge its own transfer fee.
  • Firearm frames and receivers are treated as firearms and follow the same rules.
  • Parts and accessories that are not firearms can ship to your address, as long as they're legal where you live.

Picking up your firearm

When your firearm reaches the receiving dealer, you finish the transfer in person:

  1. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID that shows your current address.
  2. Fill out ATF Form 4473 (Firearms Transaction Record).
  3. Pass a background check through the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), or present a qualifying alternate permit where federal law allows one.
  4. Pay any transfer fee and take your firearm home.

The firearm stays with the dealer until the background check is cleared.

Age requirements (federal law)

  • 21 or older: handguns, and handgun frames and receivers.
  • 18 or older: rifles and shotguns (long guns).
  • State or local law, or the receiving dealer's own policy, may set a higher age.

Residency

  • Handguns: federal law lets a dealer transfer a handgun only to a resident of the dealer's state. If you pick up from Atlas in Cypress, you must be a Texas resident. If you live in another state, your handgun has to ship to an FFL in your home state.
  • Long guns: rules depend on both your state of residence and the dealer's state. Contact us before you order.

NFA items (suppressors and other NFA firearms)

  • NFA items are released only after ATF approves the transfer application, usually an ATF Form 4 filed through ATF eForms, with any required tax stamp.
  • Until then the item stays with us.
  • Federal NFA requirements changed in 2026. Call (214) 763-4542 before you buy and we'll walk you through the current process.

Ammunition

  • Ammunition is subject to federal, state and local age rules and shipping restrictions.
  • Under federal law a dealer can't sell handgun ammunition to anyone under 21, or rifle and shotgun ammunition to anyone under 18.
  • Some items may be restricted or unavailable where you live, and some may be available for in-store pickup only.

Transfer fees at Atlas Gun Services

These fees apply when Atlas is the receiving dealer, including firearms bought somewhere else and shipped to us:

TransferFee
First firearm$40
Each additional firearm in the same transfer$20 per gun
NFA / suppressor transfer$50

Example: three firearms in one transfer = $40 + $20 + $20 = $80.

Compliance and our right to refuse

  • We follow all federal, state and local laws.
  • We may refuse or cancel any sale or transfer, at our discretion, including:
    • when a background check is denied or delayed
    • when a buyer can't show valid ID or proof of residency
    • when we believe a transfer would be unlawful
  • You are responsible for knowing and following the laws where you live.
